Overview
The Lewes Board of Public Works (BPW) is governed by a five-member Board of Directors. These directors are elected by BPW customers and serve staggered three-year terms. The Board oversees the management and operation of the city’s utility services, including electric, water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
Election Details
- Term Length: 3 years per elected director
- Eligibility: Candidates must meet qualifications as outlined in the BPW Charter.
- Voting: Open to BPW customers as defined by the Charter.
Board of Elections
In accordance with the BPW Charter, a Board of Election is appointed to oversee each election. This board typically consists of an Inspector and two Judges, along with any necessary alternates and officials. Appointments are made by the BPW President with the concurrence of a majority of the Board of Directors.
Upcoming Elections
There will be no Lewes BPW election in 2025, as no Board member terms are expiring this year. The next scheduled election will occur when a Board seat term concludes, in accordance with the BPW Charter.

To participate in BPW elections, eligible voters must be registered. You can register or update your information using the following methods:

In Person: Register at the BPW main office during business hours.
