🏗️ Project Overview

The Hoornkill Avenue Water and Sewer Extension and Replacement project will extend the existing water and sewer mains to the end of Hoornkill Avenue. In addition to replacing aging infrastructure, this initiative will expand utility service to 11 additional homes, enhancing reliability and supporting future community needs.

April 2, 2026, 2:00 pm – Bid Opening (30 days after advertising)

April 13, 2026, at City Council Regular Meeting – Award Presentation

April 22, 2026, at BPW Regular Board Meeting – Award Presentation

February 2027 – Anticipated Project Completion

Will water and sewer service be affected?
During construction, residents may experience temporary disruptions, including traffic detours and brief service interruptions. Lewes BPW is committed to minimizing these impacts and will provide timely updates throughout the project duration.

How is this project funded?
This project is being financed through a combination of low-interest loans from the Delaware Water Pollution Control Revolving Fund and the Delaware Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. These funds, administered by state agencies, support critical infrastructure improvements to water and sewer systems across the state.
