Iron Sampling Results
In response to resident concerns about water discoloration in the Burton Subdivision, the BPW has taken steps including conducting additional water testing. Quarterly testing is now scheduled separately from hydrant flushing to provide accurate and consistent monitoring. Below are the most recent test results.
Parameter | Location | Result | Secondary Standard |
Iron | 427 Johnson | .970 mg/L | .3 mg/L |
Iron | 402 W. Fourth | .0349 mg/L | .3 mg/L |
Iron | 408 Paynter | .0612 mg/L | .3 mg/L |
Iron | 420 Burton | .447 mg/L | .3 mg/L |
Iron | 405 Johnson | .0720 mg/L | .3 mg/L |
Iron | 423 Park | .131 mg/L | .3 mg/L |
*The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sets guidelines called National Secondary Drinking Water Regulations (NSDWRs) for substances that may affect the taste, odor, or appearance of drinking water. For iron, this guideline is currently set at 0.3 mg/L. More information can be found at https://www.epa.gov/sdwa/drinking-water-regulations-and-contaminants.
