The Lewes Board of Public Works is working with the City of Lewes and the University of Delaware on an important study focused on coastal resilience and nuisance flooding. This effort combines the City’s planning and governance, the BPW’s utility and infrastructure expertise, and the University’s research to better understand and address the challenges facing our coastal community.

But the most important part of this effort is you — the residents and businesses of Lewes.

Why your participation matters:

  • 💬 Share Your Experience – Tell us where and when you’ve seen nuisance flooding.
  • 📍 Identify Priority Areas – Help pinpoint locations that need attention.
  • 💡 Contribute Ideas – Suggest practical solutions for managing flooding and protecting our coast.
  • 👥 Shape the Plan – Ensure the final recommendations reflect Lewes’ community values.
  • 🌊 Protect the Future – Be part of planning for a safer, more resilient Lewes..

We encourage everyone to stay informed, attend public meetings, and share your input. This study is about more than data—it’s about creating practical, community-informed solutions to protect our homes, businesses, and quality of life from the growing risks of nuisance flooding and coastal change.
