  • Keep appliances away from water sources.
  • Teach children not to play near outlets or electrical panels.
  • Use GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas.

  • Call 911 and our 24-hour number if you see a fallen line or sparks.
  • Never touch trees or equipment near overhead power lines.
  • Avoid flying kites, drones, or metallic balloons near power lines.

đź’§ Water Safety

Inside the Home:

  • Know where your main water shut-off valve is in case of leaks.
  • Prevent scalds: Set your water heater thermostat to 120°F (49°C) or lower.
  • Fix leaks quickly to avoid mold and water damage.
  • Do not flush wipes, paper towels, or grease—they can clog pipes and sewers.

Outside:

  • Keep fire hydrants clear of snow, vegetation, and debris.
  • Don’t let children play in street puddles near storm drains.
  • Avoid contact with water during and after heavy storms, which may contain runoff or sewer overflow.
