⚡ Electrical Safety
Indoors:
- Never use damaged cords or outlets that feel warm.
- Keep appliances away from water sources.
- Teach children not to play near outlets or electrical panels.
- Use GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas.
Outdoors:
- Stay at least 30 feet away from downed power lines—always assume they’re live.
- Call 911 and our 24-hour number if you see a fallen line or sparks.
- Never touch trees or equipment near overhead power lines.
- Avoid flying kites, drones, or metallic balloons near power lines.

Inside the Home:
- Know where your main water shut-off valve is in case of leaks.
- Prevent scalds: Set your water heater thermostat to 120°F (49°C) or lower.
- Fix leaks quickly to avoid mold and water damage.
- Do not flush wipes, paper towels, or grease—they can clog pipes and sewers.
Outside:
- Keep fire hydrants clear of snow, vegetation, and debris.
- Don’t let children play in street puddles near storm drains.
- Avoid contact with water during and after heavy storms, which may contain runoff or sewer overflow.
