The Lewes Board of Public Works will host a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection event for residents to safely dispose of unwanted or potentially harmful materials.
Accepted Items
Please Note:
All containers must be leak-proof and in their original containers.
Do not mix different products in one container.
🏠 House:
Full aerosol cans, bleach, chemistry kits, nail polish and removers, perfumes, disinfectants, drain cleaners, floor wax, mercury thermometers, mothballs, oven cleaner, spot remover, toilet cleaner, fluorescent light bulbs
🔧 Workshop:
Corrosives, paint, small compressed-gas cylinders, solvents, stains, strippers, thinners, varnish, wood preservatives, fluorescent bulbs
🌿 Garden/Yard:
Fungicides, herbicides, pesticides, pool chemicals
🚗 Automotive:
Antifreeze, auto batteries, degreasers, waste fuels (gasoline, kerosene, used motor oil mixed with fuels)
💻 Electronics:
Computer components and parts, printers, monitors, keyboards, laptops, copying equipment, calculators, microwaves, telephones (cordless, cellular, pay, answering machines), televisions, video cameras, VCRs, DVD players, radios, audio equipment, vacuum cleaners, and electronic toys or game systems
Helpful Tips
- Bring materials in their original, sealed containers
- Do not mix products together
- To prevent leakage or breakage, pack items separately in absorbent material or triple bagged
- Bring rags for cleaning spills; dispose of them at the collection site
The Lewes BPW reserves the right to decline materials not on the DSWA list or those without proper labeling.
